A neuroscientist has found that those who practice meditation have more gray matter in their frontal cortex, which is the part of the brain that is linked to decision making and memory. According to the study, 50-year-old meditators studied had the same amount of gray matter as those who are only 24 years old, even though most people’s frontal cortex shrinks as they grow older. “Studies suggest that with only 15 minutes of meditation a day, positive benefits can be seen,” said Dipanshu Sharma.

The study looked at long-term meditators who had seven to nine years of experience and showed that they had greater gray matter in the auditory and sensory cortex of the brain, as well as the insula and sensory regions.
